Jill V. Svoboda enjoyed a long career as a magazine writer and editor, a marketing and public relations specialist, and an adjunct professor of English (Northeastern Illinois University), all in Chicago. Her novella, “Roses and Revenge,” was published in a Chicago-based magazine, “A Great Read.” She has won two awards in the annual Writers’ Digest Writing Competitions, one for a memoir, “Of Mice and a Man,” and the second for a short story, “The Mule Kicker.” Now at home in Florida, Svoboda often dodges the hard work of writing by playing clawhammer-style banjo.
